laughlin

After the Petrified Forest we took off west. We stopped at Holbrook, AZ. for gas and to eat lunch. The man at the gas station recommended a Mexican restaurant in town and that seemed right down our alley. We both had chimichangas; Dorothy's with green sauce and mine with red. When we travel we like to find good places to eat that don't belong to a franchise, but that's hard to do. A good independent restaurant is hard to find, so we eat mostly at places like the Cracker Barrel, Denny's, and MacDonald's. In California we like In and Out hamburgers, and pastrami sandwiches from The Hat.
Anyway, we spent the next two nights at the Ramada Express hotel in Laughlin, Nevada. A very nice place to stay and only $24 a night. The swimming pool is shaped like a locomotive and the big wheel is a hot tub. The water circulates to look like a wheel in motion. We walked up the hill and I took a picture of the sun beginning to peak around the River Palms hotel. Then there is the view of the river from the top of the hill. It was a two mile walk. We were trying to burn off all those calories we were eating on the trip. The Ramada has an excellent breakfast buffet.
We visited with Dorothy's sister and brother-in-law Gin and Dave Payton in Golden Valley, AZ, and also looked up and old friend.

If I know Arizona...your chimichanga was as big as your forearm...right?
